Southern Dalarna offers rivers, lakes, forests, mountains and valleys, in other words, there are lots of opportunities for everything from canoeing and fishing adventures to cycling excursions and hiking. In the winter, the area is transformed into an eldorado for skiers and ice skaters with popular, high-class facilities for cross-country and downhill skiing, and ploughed skating tracks. After a day of nature experiences and exciting activities, you’re close to city comforts, restaurants and shopping.

Colourful handicraft traditions and genuine Dala music meet cool music festivals for all tastes and ages. One of Sweden’s best-known and loved artists, Carl Larsson, lived and worked in Dalarna at the end of the 19^th century. Today, his home in Sundborn is one of our most visited attractions.

The Mining Area of the Great Copper Mountain in Falun has been designated by UNESCO as one of the world’s most important places and has a long, exciting history and activities for all the family.
